Stripe crypto onramp alternative that works beyond the US and EU

Stripe's onramp serves buyers in the US and EU paying USD or EUR. Unigox is a Stripe crypto onramp alternative for apps whose users buy USDT or USDC in other local currencies. US and EU card buyers stay with Stripe.

When to stay with Stripe's onramp

  • Your buyers are in the US or EU and pay by card

Stripe's onramp takes credit and debit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay and, in the US, ACH. Unigox does not currently offer its services in the United States, and widget buyers pay a P2P merchant or payment business in local currency.

  • You want Stripe to carry fraud and disputes

Stripe is merchant of record for every onramp purchase, takes full liability for fraud and disputes, and runs KYC and sanctions screening. Returning buyers skip steps because their payment methods, KYC data and wallets stay saved with Stripe.

  • Your users buy BTC, ETH or SOL

Stripe's hosted onramp sells BTC, ETH, SOL, POL, AVAX and XLM next to USDC. The Unigox widget trades USDT and USDC only.

Add local-currency buying beside Stripe in three steps

  1. Name the markets Stripe turns away

Book a call and list the countries where your users fail Stripe's region check or pay in neither USD nor EUR.

  2. Get your widget key

Unigox opens your partner account and issues the key. You choose whether the widget opens on Buy, Sell or both.

  3. Show it where Stripe declines

When Stripe refuses a buyer in a region it cannot serve, open the Unigox widget instead. The buyer verifies with Unigox and buys USDT or USDC into a Unigox Wallet.

What fees does the Stripe crypto onramp charge buyers?

By default Stripe adds a transaction fee and a network fee on top of the amount, and its US terms say the price also carries a spread between the exchange's market price and the price shown. Unigox puts its fee inside the rate the buyer sees before confirming.

Does the Stripe onramp API need a backend?

Yes, except for the plain hosted link: your server creates an onramp session with your Stripe secret key for each visit, and Embedded Components also needs it to check KYC and confirm checkout. The Unigox widget needs no backend, only the embed code and your widget key.
